NINA

NINA is a French trotter and was born on the 6th May 2001. She had two fillies in 2004 and 2005.

After that we can't find any history but when she arrived in February 2020 she was in the most appalling state.

She was very wary of us and it was clear she hadn’t been shown any love.

Her tail was so matted that even after many hours of painstakingly trying to comb it through, we eventually had to cut over half off as it was just one clumped mass which she couldn’t use to swish. She was also covered in scars.

NINA - Retirement

We had to gain her trust and the journey was long but successful.

In the beginning, it was impossible to lift her hooves for trimming but over the years she now trusts us.

With a lot of care and attention as well as some massage and healing treatments, we discovered she was a lovely gentle mare.

She can still be shy but does enjoy a cuddle and a neck rub now.

Her needs are very simple : grazing all day, shelter and love.
